All Monsters - We don’t belong (vinyl 7”)

$7.00

Beware the howling of that which roams across the rotting moors, fear that which rattles rusted chains beneath the castle halls, and flee screaming from that which is the shambling mess of blackened post-punk known only as All Monsters.

Tearing a bleak contrast between the harsh rage of black metal and the nuanced despondency of post-punk, All Monsters is a frightful entity ensorcelled by bayou hermit nobody (vide & Some Dead Bodies) in the age of 2019, whom unchained its self-titled debut incantation during this time, unleashing a driving force of melancholic spells to weep the heart dry. It would be some years later, in the age of 2021, that All Monsters would strike again, this time with a three spell incantation by the title of We don’t belong, furthering those fusions of gothic black metal lamentations to even darker stretches of desolate nostalgia.

Awakening with a lonely dirge of instrumental misery, Ghost of john, that any ancient horror cinema of old would be proud to possess, We don’t belong opens with a decayed beauty, moth bitten throes of half forgotten memories wandering the shadows before leading into its first true spell. Revealing a soundscape with the same potent melancholia as its forebear, We don’t belong is all the ruinous for this, except for this grim outing nobody has worked an even heavier bottom end of coffin cadaver, whispers of rasping ruin wreathed around a funerary percussive march, inflections of weary guitar tones making pallid the flesh. Final spell, On and on continues this mortuary procession deeper down into the pendulous pits, exsanguinating all it touches with hypnotic melodies, clashing collisions and a desperation of vocal need that claws at the soul. Thus it would be that We don’t belong delivers exactly as its moniker promises, unveiling a yearning for that which never was, and that which never will be for those mortal puppets doomed to walk this world until their lantern lights are finally snuffed for an eternity.
