'What makes cover songs work is the ability to keep the initial spirit alive, while maintaining an identity that is genuine to the group covering. Vide's mastermind proves himself up for the challenge of balancing the necessity with the artistic identity. This comes from a great knowledge and appreciation of music, a passion and the vision to create an identity that pays tribute; while still acknowledging the self. Toadies forever rode the line between grunge, punk and indie rock. Yet their riffs had the ability to almost become a sound of sludge, from hurdling the above genres. Vide takes that and applies it alongside that lumbering swamp monster energy, that is foundation to the Vide original material. This allows Vide to keep the spirit of the song alive, without straying too far from their own home. The Misfits managed to keep a drunken confidence within their own sphere of the punk spectrum, Vide captures that and adds in the hazy fog that trails the Louisiana humidity, allowing their atmosphere to be invited inside the foundation of the Misfits.' -JB
