'A nightmare that sounds like a sinking coffin, lost in the aftermath of a violent storm. The sound, smell and feel of rain so thick with the essence of rot, it suffocates all senses. This is the cacophony of shrieking black metal that is paraded around, resulting in a slithering dance between serene calm and utter dread on Vide’s latest full-length. The type of dread that must infiltrate the lungs of the deaf and mute, when they must scream but can’t even muster the sound of splintering floorboards in the rot-soaked home that is this album. There is claustrophobia behind the walls of these songs that invokes anxiety and fear, the songs bring you to them, not vice versa. You hear them coming. This album plays both the part of coffin and home, as side A turns to B, we start to lose an understanding of which is which. The listener is challenged between what is comfort and what is suffocation absolute. If the point of art is to circumvent our own personal tragedies and articulate our experience and environment into tangible pieces, then Vide hits their mark like a potent eulogy, with a funeral procession being led to a graveyard that requires you dig deeper than 6 feet. For that is the depths from which this album howls, calling to you, to me. For nothing else besides the desolation provided between the sounds of what is found here. For those looking to a soundtrack to how it must feel to know you’re helpless, without a single soul to assist you.' -JB
